Event Marketing

One of the easiest ways to extend your marketing budget is through events. There are two ways to go about it; developing an event from scratch or getting involved with an existing event that suits your needs.

Whether you use offline or online advertising, or a combination of both, tying your company to an event is a perfect way to gain creditability and notoriety. It underscores your passion for business as well as your support for others involved in the event.

Starting from scratch to develop an event can be an overwhelming undertaking, yet the benefits are immense. You can define the event exactly how you see fit, rather than trying to adapt to someone else’s ideas. Others must adapt to you. You also own the event so when it becomes successful you can repeat it year after year.

Jumping on to someone else’s event can often times be the easiest on your invested time and pocketbook. However, what you give up is the control of the event, and you must work with the owner of the event to receive the exposure you are trying to achieve. If you have never been involved with an event from a marketing perspective, this may the perfect way to begin, so you can learn the necessary steps needed for a successful event.

Events can take on all sizes, shapes and colors, and many are truly amazing to be part of, whenreflecting back. Take your time in determining whether you want to create one of your own or seek out one that fits your needs. Most of all, try and have fun with it-and the ROI will be plentiful.

What are your challenges when it comes to event marketing? I look forward to hearing your comments. Until next time…
