The Luck of the Irish; Everyone Can Be Lucky

Submitted by Mitch Seigel on Tues, 3/17/2014

How can I shy away from blogging about people on St Patrick’s Day! Today, everyone can be lucky. How does that translate to sales you ask? The more you know about the people you are attempting to sell, the higher likelihood of success.

They say that the definition of luck is the crossroads of opportunity and preparedness. I truly believe in this premise. Opportunities abound in our world. It’s the preparedness aspect where the breakdown occurs. And with that is the time it takes to become fully prepared.

If you haven’t noticed, people are different. Thank goodness! Yet in many cases we treat one person the same as the next. It is knowing the differences that allow us to be successful. Does the person communicate through email or phone, do they want to talk about their off work hours before talking about business or the opposite, and so on…

When you are preparing for a client meeting, taking a few extra minutes of preparation to address the prospect in their comfort zone can increase results exponentially! Take some time ahead of the call to learn more about them. Google them, check them out on Linkedin, etc. You have many resources right at your fingertips.

While St. Patrick’s Day is a day to celebrate the luck of the Irish and possibly consume a green beverage, it is also a chance to reflect on the luck that can easily rub off on you as you approach your field of prospects.

What are your challenges when it comes to recognizing individual personality styles? I look forward to hearing your comments. Until next time…
