The Marketing Coach

Submitted by Mitch Seigel on Tues, 7/07/2015

Over the years I have consulted several small to medium size businesses on the marketing of their company. In at least fifty percent of the instances, the businesses did not have a staff member in charge of marketing. The owner, in many cases the visionary for the business, would determine what budget was to be used for marketing and would work on where the money was spent on their own. Just as often, the owner did not enjoy the experience.

On the other hand, many larger businesses I have worked with have had several staff members who made up the marketing department, and often were competing for seniority and status within the company. This often led to things not getting done!

In steps the marketing coach, to give direction to the small to medium size businesses, and to keep chaos to a minimum in the larger businesses.

Today, the best of the best are using coaches as a cost effective way to receive guidance and a new perspective for increasing bottom line revenue and ROI. The coach has a “birds-eye view” of what’s going on inside the maze. The staffers inside the maze just can’t see how to make it from one end to the other. This is a perfect match!

How many times have you been stuck on a project and look at it over and over and over again and just can’t seem to find the solution? It’s amazing what another pair of eyes and ears can do to help you through the situation. If pro athletes can use coaches, and singers or actors can use coaches, how about marketers?

What are your challenges when it comes to marketing direction? I look forward to hearing your comments. Until next time…
