Marketing You

Submitted by Mitch Seigel on Tues, 6/09/2015

Generally when a person is between career positions, they are quiet about it and only tell key people in their life. The exact opposite is necessary in order to move to your next position quicker.

My contract ended in May and I am now in a search mode for either more contract work through Nine Dot Marketing or a full time position in sales and/or marketing. I am contacting everyone, including past supervisors, past clients, current relationships through friends, and several organizations. The more people who know I am searching, the better.

Really it has not been hard to do, since I continue to keep in touch with many people while I am gainfully employed. It is matter of just changing the message, staying focused and most of all, staying calm!

In addition, I regularly search specific sites for my industry to see what’s available now, and then connect with inside people who can give me either an open door to the decision maker, or at least a better understanding of what happens on the inside of a company.

I find that my organization comes in very handy during this time. I get up in the morning, exercise, eat a good breakfast, and start my day; calling, emailing, reading, meeting with people and more. If you are not organized, this is the time to get in line.

What are your challenges when it comes to marketing you when you are looking for career opportunities? I look forward to hearing your comments. Until next time…
