Sports Marketing

This is the one of the best times of the year for sports enthusiasts; basketball and hockey playoffs, baseball season is under way, and the NFL draft! It is also one of the best times of the year for marketing your products and/or services through sports.

Marketing your business in sports programming, in stadium, or with athletic endorsements, all go much deeper than surface level relationships. The relationship transcends from the sport to the brand, and vice versa. The key is making sure the sport is a match with your business objectives.

Once that is determined, then the fun begins. Advertising, sponsorships, promotions and endorsements will lead to deep relationships for years to come. Stay consistent with messaging and the sports/athletes with which you develop relationships.

When starting to expand your company’s involvement in sports, assign staff to a committee. Structural change can take place in personnel for your company as the sports marketing relationships continue to develop. Take one step at a time.

As your comfort level with sports marketing increases, planning well in to the future is recommended. It will allow your ROI to flourish and present exciting opportunities that you may never had dreamed of being available to your company.

What are your challenges when it comes to sports marketing? I look forward to hearing your comments. Until next time…
