Today’s Transparent Market

Submitted by Mitch Seigel on Wed, 4/02/2013

When Mark Zuckerberg and his partners created Facebook opened the floodgates of transparency and the market will never be the same. Life will never be the same, but that’s a whole different story!

Today, and forever into the future, everything you or your company does as it relates to business, is for all to see. And there’s no looking back! Not only does this mean that every bit of information is in front of everyone else’s eyes, but it also means that the marketing you or your company does needs to be accurate, precise, and in a way, perfect.

Unfortunately everyone is not a perfectionist, so in my eyes I see a downgrade in the quality that is presented to the market. And once that trend started it became OK for everyone to be a little less than perfect. My feeling is that this change will get worse before it gets better, moving toward imperfection, rather than perfection.

My only suggestion is to keep in mind that everyone is watching you, and you don’t know who it is or when they are watching. The brand you expose to the public is what it is, so take your time and make it right the first time around.

Can too much ‘Facebook’ be hurting how we look to each other? That is for you to decide and the public to judge. Any way you look at it, this is a very expensive question to consider, but is very much worth considering. No matter how hard I try to become part of today’s marketing world, I will always be part of a past generation. I’m not complaining and actually glad to have seen this transition. I’m just not sure if I wanted everyone else in the world to be able to see me go through this transition with me.

What are your challenges when it comes to the transparency of today’s market? I look forward to hearing your comments. Until next time…
